I've said it before, when it come to cars and trucks, I love compulsive people! They really care about their vehicles...Obsessivly! Everything has to be juuust right, they keep every receipt, every piece of original documentation the car/truck comes with, and if something is not quite right...They have to fix it, NOW!
This '79 short box stepside truck falls into this category. Lovingly maintained, properly cared for in every respect, records to prove the work and parts invested, and upgraded in some nice areas. This is the way to buy a vintage truck!
The black paint shines very nicely and is very clean. The bed was replaced in 1989 with a new bed, and painted to patch the cab. The engine is the original to the truck with the top end being rebuilt with Vortec heads, and some nice additional upgrades as mentioned above. The interior is clean and comfortable, and this truck has a great stance.
All of this said, the most important aspect is how this truck runs, drives, and operates. Well, I would have to say, “somewhere between Excellent and Fantastic!” The truck starts easily, drives down the road very smoothly...Yes, even though it's been lowered, and all functions of the truck work properly, such as the air conditioning, the cruise control, the wipers, the gauges, the brakes, and steering.
You can take this truck to a show or cruise-in if you like and people would love it, but actually, this truck would make an absolutely perfect daily driver. The undercarriage is very clean, and there are no patch panels, or rust anywhere in the truck.
If you're considering a vintage truck to cruise around in...And who isn't? This truck is a perfect find. Truly an excellent Truck!
