1978 was the Silver Anniversary for the Corvette. 25 years of production. As such, to commemorate this mile-stone, Corvettes of this year wear an Anniversary badge. Additionally, a couple of special models were offered: The Indianapolis Pace Car replica to commemorate the Corvettes involvement to Pace the Indy 500 in 1978, and the “Anniversary Edition” like you see here with it's two-tone silver paint combination and badges.
This particular Anniversary Edition shows 29,602 miles on the odometer. It's a very clean, excellent running and excellent driving example of a later generation C-3.
Over the course of the last twenty years, this car was predominately used to attend car shows. Personally, I think someone really missed out as this Corvette really drives nice, and with the additional performance the L82 engine provides over the L48 standard engine, the performance and handling this Corvette offers, gives credence to the statement : “The Corvette and the Trans Am is what kept the Muscle Car persona alive during the lean years” .
Be it the Indy Pace Car, or the Anniversary Edition, 1978 Corvettes are a popular choice in the 3rd generation realm of Corvettes.
This Corvette will provide it's new owner a fun, well performing, well optioned American sports car, that looks great either cruising down the road, or displayed at a car show. Additionally, this Corvette can be driven anywhere with confidence as it has been well taken care of and reliable.
If you're considering a Corvette of the '70's, the Corvettes of this time period really became comfortable and well appointed. In other words...A good choice!
