After the rise, and subsequent fall of the factory Muscle-Car wars of the 1960's and into the early '70's, there were very few offerings from any manufacture for anything remotely resembling high performance. Pontiac's Trans Am and Chevrolet's Corvette come to mined off the bat. Fords only pony car that blasted into the youth scene along with the Beatles just some10 years earlier had now become nothing more than an economy car with some fairly cool graphics.
Oldsmobile was one of the last “Gaspers” to offer at least some degree of performance and diminishing hope to a public that had all but moved on to the likes of over-sized family sedans, and the impending push of foreign economy cars.
This car is indeed one of the last, rarely seen examples of the absolute tail-end of the Factory built post Muscle Car era Muscle cars. Oldsmobile had a ground-pounding killer in 1969 with their Cutlass A body linked to Hurst performance. The Hurst Olds' was an “Over-the-Top” looking, true high performance muscle-car that was a force to be reckoned with!
To find a decent example of one today is not only difficult, but bordering on ridiculously expensive when you do find one.
Now, 1975 was not the planets shining moment in terms of the automotive industry, but through that dimly lit era, there were a few shiny gems.
The Hurst Old's soldiered on through the dark ages of automotive history to come out on the other end as a proud, standing-tall example of perseverance.
Take a look at this one of 1,293 examples of the Cameo white model (the other only optional color was Ebony black, 1,242 units) that has not only survived the last 40+ years, but wears it's original paint, interior, W-30 455 CID engine (W-25 would have been a 350) and all of the unique options that make the Hurst Old's very special.
